World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King is the newest expansion in the immensely popular MMORPG. If you’ve played WoW before, you know that there are some places and creatures that are more terrifying and dangerous than the others. Such is the case in one of the zones in Northrend, the new setting of WoW’s latest expansion. Home of the ferocious and sly Dakkaris and several other fierce creatures, the Wrath of the Lich King Zul’Drak zone is one of the most dangerous zones in all Northrend. People only go to Zul’Drak if they have a truly important reason to go there, if they wish to gain an audience with the Dakarris and their leader, Frost King Malakk, or if they wish to test the limits of their strength. Other than that, Zul’drak should be avoided, because not doing so usually means death.
Why is this land of ice and thick forests so universally avoided? The reason for this is, as I mentioned above, because of the creatures that reside in the area. The Drakkaris call the land their homeland. Their race is the most populous in the valley, and the Wrath of the Lich King Zul’Drak zone is filled with the rough dwellings of the Drakkari race. Drakkaris travel the valley and the neighboring areas around it in search for prey. Anyone would do, may it be a lost traveler or enemy. Additionally, anyone can get caught in a battle between one tribe of Dakarris and another. The race constantly fights each other and getting caught in one of their skirmishes might mean that Zul’drak will be your graveyard, too. There are also wolves, windingos, and even the occasional Furbolgs that can be found in the area. Not only that, the promise of a Scourge invasion is always present in the land.
Zul’Drak, as of the present, is also filled with Drakkaris gone mad after they sacrificed their precious animal gods to the altar as a means to stave off a Scourge Invasion. The Argent Dawn, Azeroth’s law and evil-fighting organization will travel to Zul’Drak to try to resolve the problem. In the latest expansion, the Wrath of the Lich King Zul’Drak zone will resemble a completely outdoor zone similar to Shadowmoon valley.
There is still a lot to know about Zul’Drak, and there might be something in this zone that will be useful for you, but if you want to be cautious, avoid the area completely. If you want to go North or South of Northrend, you need not pass by Zul’Drak. You can choose to traverse the Grizzly Hills for this. However, if you want to test your daring, then go ahead. You might find something there that everyone has missed.
